FORMER prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra today (May 19) posted a message on her Facebook page commemorating the 11th anniversary of the military crackdown on the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) protests in central Bangkok that left over 85 people dead including more than 80 civilians and according to the Erawan EMS Centre two foreigners and two paramedics as well, Amarin TV said.
“I would like to commemorate the loss of the people from the 2010 dissolution of the protests in which people were victims of government action.
“And I would like to be a part of #RestoringTheTruth for everyone who fought for democracy that day. I urge that the pain of the families of the Thai political victims and those who died in that incident will be the last pain for Thailand. #11Year19May,” she wrote.
Meanwhile her brother former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, speaking at panel discussion on Clubhouse, asked which situation is more desirable to mount a coup, seven years ago Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha did so as army commander or today, Thai Rath newspaper said.
He added that the focus has to be the people who no longer have savings with household debts mounting very high.
He opined that giving away money will not alleviate their suffering because they are worried about their future and the education of their children.
Thaksin also said that if Gen Prayut cannot solve the problem then he should let someone else do so.
