A THAI doctor tweeted today (July 30) that some of the 1.5 million doses of Pfizer vaccine donated by the US that has just arrived here should be allocated to garbage collectors who are usually overlooked by the society, Sanook.com said.
Dr. Tosaporn Sererak, a several- term MP from Phrae province and former deputy secretary-general and spokesman in the Yingluck Shinawatra government, posted a picture of garbage collectors in his tweet with the following message:
“All garbage truck staff must get Pfizer #Request Pfizer for the front line units and #Reclaim Modena for the people.”
A large number of Thai netizens agreed with his message with this being retweeted more than 20,000 times.
There were a lot of comments on this issue with some people pointing out that garbage collectors have inoculated but with the Sinovac vaccine so should urgently be given a third booster shot.
Others mentioned that garbage collectors are a high-risk group who work hard for low pay. In the current pandemic they do come into contact with rubbish contaminated with the virus and need protective clothing.
