WHILE the Covid count declined to 6,718 cases and 12 deaths today (Jan. 25) the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) warned that several clusters had emerged with the one in Bangkok being at a boxing camp in Bangkok Noi area, Naewna newspaper said.
Dr. Sumani Watcharasin, CCSA’s assistant spokesperson, said clusters at factories and establishments had cropped up in Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Chon Buri, Ayutthaya and Sukhothai provinces.
Other clusters that have emerged include those at religious gatherings in Udon Thani, Khon Kaen, Nan and Sisaket provinces; at markets in Khon Kaen and Mukdahan provinces; at entertainment venues in Roi Et and Udon Thani provinces; at army camps in Lopburi and Mukdahan province; and at hospitals in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Ubon Ratchathani, Chon Buri and Samut Prakan provinces.
This is why everyone should strictly follow Covid preventive measures.
It was found that a cluster had developed at the boxing camp in Bangkok Noi because people were eating together, drinking from the same glass, using the same equipment with there being no alcohol gel anywhere in the complex.
With this year’s Chinese New Year festival being observed from Jan. 28 to Feb.3 the public are urged to be extra careful in gathering with their relatives, going out shopping, eating at restaurants and praying at shrines with the proper social distance being four square metres for every one person.
Of today’s 6,718 cases 6,476 emerged in surveillance and healthcare systems, 21 were found through proactive search, 69 fell sick in prisons and detention centres while 152 foreign arrivals tested positive.
This increased the cumulative confirmed total since the start of the pandemic to 2,391,357.
Another 7,659 patients were cured taking total recoveries since the start of the pandemic to 2,287,768 with 81,532 undergoing treatment of whom 548 are in serious condition and 114 requiring ventilators.
Today’s 12 fatalities raised the death toll to 22,057.
Altogether 112,759,859 doses of vaccines have been administered since Feb. 28, 2021.
