Covid tally at new high – 18,883 cases, with ATK test soars to 33,893

THAILAND’S Covid count rose to a new high today (Feb. 21) reaching 18,883 cases and 32 deaths but if those who tested positive via ATK but awaiting confirmation by PCR are added the tally climbs to 33,893, Matichon newspaper said.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said of today’s 18,883 confirmed cases 18,721 were domestic patients while 162 foreign arrivals tested positive.

An additional 15,010 people tested positive via ATK of whom 202 are in severe condition requiring oxygen.

Another 14,914 patients were cured taking total recoveries since Jan. 1 to 373,651 while 166,397 are still undergoing treatment.

This takes the cumulative confirmed total since Jan. 1 to 507,763 and since the start of the pandemic 2,731,198.

Today’s total of  32 fatalities takes the death toll to 22,656.

Today’s top-ten worst-hit provinces are as follows:

1)   Bangkok, 2,761;

2)   Nakhon Si  Thammarat, 960;

3)   Samut Prakan, 928;

4)   Chonburi, 902;

 5)   Nonthaburi, 852;

6)    Phuket, 720;

7)   Nakhon Si Thammarat, 573;

8)   Rayong, 476;

9)   Nakhon Pathom, 429;

10)  Buriram and Pathum Thani tie with 421;
