THE PRICE of cooking gas, or liquified petroleum gas (LPG), will be rising by 15 baht per 15-kg cylinder on March 31 to reflect the true cost, Sanook.com said today (Mar. 11).
Deputy Premier / Energy Ministry Supattanapong Punmeechaow said the price hike was in line with energy prices escalating to a 14-year high as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
With the additional 15 baht the price of a 15-kg cylinder of cooking gas will go up from 318 to 333 baht.
The fuel traffic (FT) will also likely increase by 16 satang per kilowatt-hour (unit) from May to August this year with this resulting in higher power bills, Naewna newspaper said.
However, to help people, those households that do not use more than 300 units a month, or around 1,200 baht a month, will be charged the current FT rate.
The minister pointed out that the government had been taking care of the people to the best of its ability with the retail price of diesel now pegged at 30 baht a litre for as long as possible.
The government is moving to increase the Oil Fund from 30 to 40 billion baht.
