UPON the the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) today (June 9) pointing to Deputy Education Minister Kanokwan Wilawan as having supported the issuance of title deeds in reserved forest areas at Khao Yai National Park in Prachinburi province reporters were unable to reach her at the ministry with officials saying she may not come to work because she had other business to attend to, Matichon newspaper said.
However Kanokwan sent a message to clarify this matter, saying “right now this issue is under the care of legal officers and I would like to thank you all for your concern.”
Earlier Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is leader of Bhumjaithai Party, was shocked when questioned about these allegations.
He replied that details of the allegations were still not known but everything had to follow the law and as he was acquainted with Kanokwan he encouraged her to present information and details to clear herself.
Asked if the court accepts this case whether it would be similar to former Palang Pracharat MP Pareena Kraikupt, who was recently deprived by court of her MP status and banned for life from politics due to deliberate encroachment upon a forest reserve in Ratchaburi province, Anutin said procedural steps were already in place.
He added that his party supported whoever does good but wrongdoers, even if they are in their camp, would have to face legal action.
