THE owner of a shop selling cannabis infused craft sodas on Khao San road was arrested today (Oct. 7) after using a skateboard to hit a foreign tourist on the head and face before dawn yesterday, Sanook.com said.
Mr. Phawit (surname withheld), or Ken, 33, admitted that at 5 a.m. yesterday morning just as he was shutting his shop he saw that his friend was involved in a punch-up with a foreign man. He then stepped in to help his friend by using his skateboard to bash the tourist’s head and after that hit him twice on the face.
Although he quickly escaped, he was arrested at his home in Nonthaburi today.
He added that the fight ensued after the foreign tourist looked at his friend’s girlfriend and tried to approach her.
The tourist was quickly taken to Hua Chiew Hospital for treatment but could not initially be questioned because of his injury.
National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Damrongsak Kittiprapas ordered Chana Songkram police station to quickly solve this case and catch the attacker.
Police investigators went through surveillance camera clips on the escape routes. They then found out that the suspect was a member of one of three skateboard groups who usually cruise around at Banglamphu roundabout and Sip Sam Hang road. These groups are Sip Sam Hang, Sanam Luang and Rama Eight.
