A LAMPANG resident came with his lawyer to file a complaint at the Central Investigation Bureau against a Narcotics Suppression Bureau police officer who had assaulted him and his friends at a karaoke lounge and fired his pistol at them as they fled the scene with no progress made in half a month, Matichon newspaper said today (Nov. 10).
Mr. Ronnarong Kaewpetch, chairman of the Network to Reclaim Justice, brought Mr. Taweepong Yodsiri, 36, to file a complaint about the incident while also accusing provincial policemen of tampering with the evidence in this case.
Taweepong said he and his friends were drinking at a karaoke lounge when an argument broke out with another group of three men there. However, one of the three men claimed to have a Narcotics Control Board card and said he was taking them for a urine test while also beating them up.
In this dire situation he and friends ran off and the policeman then fired his pistol at them but no one was hit.
Taweepong said he then went and filed a complaint against this policeman at Lampang city police station but the investigators did not appear to be interested in the firing of shots at them.
He later found out that the policeman was indeed an officer of the Narcotics Suppression Bureau Lampang branch as he had contacted him to let go of the case in return for 100,000 baht payment.
As a group of men who appeared to be policemen had begun walking around near their house in a threatening manner which made his mother scared he decided to come and file a complaint against the policeman at the Central Investigation Bureau.
