Protesters stopped from marching to QSNCC

PROTESTERS from various activist groups were stopped from marching to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) from Asoke Montri intersection around noon today (Nov. 17), Matichon newspaper said.

The demonstrators, some of whom were carrying protest placards, were from We Volunteer (WeVo), Democratic Restoration Group (DRG), Supporter Thailand (SPT), Workers Union, People’s Constitution Campaign (CCR), Salaya for Democracy and Labour Network for People’s Rights among others.

They had made an appointment to gather at this intersection and march to QSNCC as part of their “What happened in Thailand” activity.

At 11. 20 a.m. crowd-control police had fully secured the stretch from Asoke Montri intersection to Rama 4 road.

At 11.35 a.m. the protesters held up a sign that said “Dog in front … please avoid this route.” Police then invited Mr. Jetsada Sriplang, from New Generation Network of Nonthaburi, for a talk at the MRT Sukhumvit station while the other protesters tried to raise their placards but were stopped by the police from doing so.
