SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT clarified that passengers of two Thai Smile flights were left waiting for a shuttle bus on the airplane for a couple of hours last night (Jan. 2) because Thai Airways International, the airline’s parent company, has a shortage of both drivers and these vehicles, TV Channel 7 said today.
The airport had received numerous complaints from passengers of the two Thai Smile flights, WE137 from Chiang Rai which landed at 10.25 p.m. and WE047 from Khon Kaen that touched down at 10.40 p.m., who had to wait on the airplane for two hours before being transferred to the terminal.
Suvarnabhumi Airport’s management said the problem arose from Thai Smile’s ground service provider, its parent company Thai Airways International (THAI), lacking both drivers and shuttle buses to transfer a large number of passengers.
THAI had to arrange vans to transfer passengers from these two flights and that took some time thus the delay.
The airport has instructed THAI to arrange sufficient drivers and vehicles to serve passengers and prevent a repeat of this incident.
