Prawit repeats vow to step beyond conservative-liberal conflict

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

PALANG PRACHARATH leader Prawit Wongsuwan today (Feb.27) reassured he will ultimately live up to the epitome as a man of compromise stepping beyond conflict between conservatism and liberalism.

Prawit posted on his Facebook page to pledge his self-determined, unwavering stand between both ends of the political spectrum with the goal of taking the helm of government after an upcoming general election.

The Palang Pracharath boss was earlier regarded as kingmaker who had managed to land 2014’s coup leader Prayut Chan-o-cha the premiership after the 2019 general election.

Prawit said he has constantly witnessed numerous phenomena surrounding conflict between the conservative elite and liberal politicians since he began his army career, was promoted as army chief and finally jumped in the political arena.

The deputy prime minister who is contesting the nationwide race to parliament as the sole Palang Pracharath partisan contender for prime minister reconfirmed without elaborating that he has learned so much that he now knows how to steer the country on the path to prosperity.

Given the circumstances under which one side looks to ultimately prevail over or even destroy the other, Prawit said he will invariably remain as the man of compromise and step beyond the sustained conflict between them.

Prawit apparently referred to the conservative side represented by the Ruam Thai Sang Chart with Prayut being viewed as de facto party boss and the liberal side represented by the Pheu Thai with former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra being viewed as de facto party boss.

Prayut is contesting the general election to prolong his rule under the Ruam Thai Sang Chart banners whilst Thaksin who was deposed in the 2006 coup might possibly be accused of masterminding the Pheu Thai albeit in literally distant, hush-hush fashion.
