JUREEPORN SINDHUPRAI, formerly a political official attached to Government House, was today (Apr.7) banned from contesting the May 14 general election for MP of Roi Et.
The Election Commission enforced the prohibition which has immediately disqualified Jureeporn as an electoral candidate running under the Thai Sang Thai tickets in Constituency 8 of the northeastern province due to an unfavourable ruling of the polling agency delivered last February.
Jureeporn was evidently found to have breached the election law by offering to provide rooms at a Pattaya hotel for a number of Roi Et constituents free of charge during last year’s electoral campaign for head of the provincial administration which she had unsuccessfully contested.
Such a verbal offer was judged by the polling agency as a vote-buying tactic, thus automatically nullifying Jureeporn’s right to run for MP of her home province for which she has recently applied.
During her time as official at Government House, Jureeporn had been allegedly involved in a scandalous attempted bribery over a government lottery tickets project surrounding Seksakon Atthawong, adviser to caretaker prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Jureeporn would have otherwise contested for MP of Roi Et against archrival Chayapa Sindhuprai who is her own niece vying under the Pheu Thai tickets.
