Move Forward’s Bangkok contestants simultaneously occupy intersection corners

THE MOVE FORWARD candidates running for MP in all 33 Bangkok constituencies literally occupied a sidewalk corner of an intersection simultaneously this morning (May 5).

Armed with a portable loudspeaker, the Move Forward contestants began to take on the sidewalk corner of the intersection at about 7 a.m. today, drawing the attention of prospective voters among passing motorists and pedestrians.

Some spent a few hours standing on a chair or a tiny makeshift stage whilst others simply stood on the ground at the corner of the intersection calling on prospective voters to vote for them in constituency-based mode and for their liberal camp in party-listed mode.

Some of the Move Forward contenders for Bangkok stood in front of their portrait and campaign poster installed on a corner of an intersection whilst others did without such a background, literally.

Deputy Move Forward leader Picharn Chaowapatanawong said the simultaneous occupation of Bangkok’s intersections by the Move Forward contestants was deemed as a novel approach to wooing popular support ahead of both the advance polling scheduled for the upcoming Sunday and the May 14 election.

Though these Move Forward contestants have usually occupied roadside corners of intersections in their respective constituencies since the last several weeks, they all did so roughly at the same time to make sort of a spectacular scene, according to the deputy party leader.

Rival contenders were apparently trying more or less to do the same to attract the Bangkokians, Picharn commented.
