Royalist complaining to Pita about National Day idea quickly chased away

AT A meeting of all eight partners of the Move Forward-led coalition government today (July 2) a royalist showed up and submitted a letter of complaint about the idea to change the National Day to party leader and prime minister-designate Pita Limjaroenrat but was quickly chased away by the party’s followers, Naewna newspaper said.

Amid discussions by the eight coalition partners with Prachachart leader Wan Muhammad Nor Matha, Thai Sang Thai deputy leader Supant Mongkolsuthree and Thai Liberal leader Seripisut Temiyavej being among those attending, Mr. Anon Klinkaew, leader of People’s Centre to Protect the Monarchy, showed up and handed over his complaint which was addressed to Pita.

In this letter he voiced objection to Move Forward MP Rangsiman Rome who said at a panel discussion marking the 1932 Change of Rule at Thammasat University’s Tha Prachan campus that June 24 will be officially declared National Day once and for all.

Thailand’s National Day is celebrated on December 5 which is the birthday of late King Rama IX the Great.

However Move Forward followers quarrelled with Anon and quickly chased him away.

Meanwhile when Pheu Thai leader Chonlanan Srikaew arrived at the meeting this same group of Move Forward followers had shouted, “Pheu Thai have you heard, Pita must be prime minister and Move Forward has to get the House speaker post.”

However Chonlanan did not respond to them and went into the building to attend the meeting.
