THE PUBLIC Health Ministry will be launching a pilot study on ensuring disease and hazard-free tourist areas at Phuket’s Patong Beach on Sunday Nov. 26 under the theme Safety Phuket Island Sandbox, TV Channel 7 said this evening (Nov. 8).
There will be various health-related activities to build up confidence among tourists including Sky Doctor Exercise, which is a rehearsal of emergency air rescue of patients, with marine emergency volunteers also participating.
Moreover 100,000 free influenza (flu) shots will be offered to both tourists and local people on that day.
Certificates will be given to local organisations that have successfully maintained rabies-free zones with there also being free sterilisation of dogs and cats that day.
Additionally deserving entrepreneurs at Lard Yai Walking Street, Talat Yai subdistrict, Mueang district, will each be given a Street Food Good Health sign to display at their shops and stalls.
