A TAIWANESE man with a record of involvement in fraud and human trafficking in his home country was found murdered with his hands and feet tied up at a hotel on Udomsuk road (Sukhumvit Soi 103) late this morning (Nov. 16), Sanook.com said.
A Bangna police station team rushed to investigate and found out that Mr. Chu (pseudonym), 48, had checked in alone on Tuesday (Nov. 14) at 12.43 p.m.
A friend of his had sounded the alarm after he was unable to contact him.
Bound and lying face down, he had been hit at the right eyebrow with a hard object, with other objects in the hotel room scattered as if there had been a fight or ransacking.
No assets of the deceased were found there.
Later Pol. Maj. Gen. Wittawat Chinkam, head of Metropolitan Police Division 5, came with his and Bangna police station teams to again investigate the murder and questioned the hotel staff in doing so.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Wittawat said preliminary investigation revealed that this was a murder with video clips from surveillance cameras around the hotel now being checked.
The deceased man only arrived in Thailand at 1 a.m. on the day he checked into this hotel alone.
A hotel housekeeper said she saw him at around 12.15 p.m. yesterday when she went to clean his room and he was then using his mobile phone.
While there is a report that the deceased man was involved in fraud and human trafficking in Taiwan, it is not clear this led to his murder here.
There is additional information that an African man was seen behaving suspiciously as he left the hotel.
