POLICE are certain they will be able to apprehend two Indian men suspected to have killed and dismembered a Myanmar man whose body parts were found in a brand new freezer at a townhouse they had rented for jobseekers to stay even though they have flown back to their home country, Channel 3’s 3Plus News said today (Jan. 22).
National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimon and Pol. Col. Lertsak Khiansap, superintendent of Thakham police station, said the two suspects in this case flew to Chennai on Saturday Jan. 20, a day after the Myanmar jobseeker was murdered and dismembered, and one day before his five friends who had also come here seeking jobs but had all been placed found his dismembered body.
Pol. Gen. Torsak said Thai police are close to apprehending the two suspects because they had coordinated with the Indian embassy and are getting good cooperation through an extradition treaty.
It is as yet uncertain whether the murder was related to human trafficking, he said, but no possible motives have been ruled out including extramarital affair and quarrel.
However the visa-free entry for some countries had led to a jump in the number of tourists with Indians topping the list.
Both the Thai police and FBI are keeping a close eye on foreign influential groups, especially in Pattaya, who could be involved in human trafficking, money laundering, and cyber crime.
Pol. Col. Lertsak ruled out extramarital affair as having led to the murder and dismemberment of the Myanmar man believing it stemmed from a quarrel.
Police have already identified the job broker who legally entered Thailand many years ago and correctly registered his company, he said, but other issues are still being investigated.
Police checked the suspect’s office for 30 minutes and aside from an office on the ground floor, the second to fourth floors were empty.
They also got a video clip that appears to show the two suspects.
This TV channel’s reporters talked to a restaurateur opposite this office and he said only a few people visited this company, mostly Indians.
When Thai employees arrived to work they often sat at his shop until an Indian man came on a motorcycle to open the door.
The Indian boss had eaten at his restaurant, he said, and he appeared to be a calm person and did not look suspicious in any way unlike his cousin, whose name is Sikkha.
The two of them went everywhere together with Sikka being more handsome.
He believes it was Thursday when the two of them rode a motorcycle back to the office with Sikka looking flustered, glancing left and right to see if they were being followed while the company owner opened the door.
