KOH Samui police arrested two Russians after they were caught red-handed working at an illegal beauty clinic operated from a hotel room with their clients including both Thais and foreigners, Naewna newspaper said today (Mar. 13).
Surat Thani Immigration police launched an investigation after hearing that foreigners were illegally running a beauty clinic in Bo Phut area of the island that provided many kinds of treatment including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections. This type of service has to be tightly controlled because it can be life-threatening.
They discovered that this illegal clinic’s services were widely advertised on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram with there being photos of foreigners taking care of clients.
Upon ascertaining that this beauty clinic was not registered, further investigation revealed that it was owned by a Russian woman named Ms. Yulia (pseudonym), 41, with many foreigners working there and taking turns to give various beauty treatments.
When police raided the hotel room they found Mr. Alexander, 35, and Ms. Lillia, 32, providing facial beauty and muscle treatment to foreigners.
Alexander was found to have a work permit for a position of general manager of a company providing residential services but Lillia did not have one.
Found in this hotel room were various medical equipment including a centrifuge, various sizes of syringes and beauty products stored in a refrigerator and a cabinet, client record cards, service rate cards, and dangerous and controlled drugs that do not have Thai-language labels.
Alexander was charged with working beyond the scope of his work permit while Yulia was slapped with a charge of working without a permit.
Police investigators are also moving to take legal action against Yulia on the charges of running this illegal business and selling unregistered drugs.
