THE SUPERINTENDENT of Taopoon police station who wanted to resign because he could no longer cope with the pressure of handling an online website case involving both National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimon and Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Surachet Hakphan, nicknamed Big Joke, has changed his mind and is no longer stepping down after talking to his supervisor, Amarin TV said this afternoon (Apr. 7).
Pol. Col. Suradet Chatthai, superintendent of Taopoon police station, had written a resignation letter and just as it was being sent to Pol. Maj. Gen. Atthaphon Anusit, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, according to the chain of command, the latter called him to discuss work guidelines because he is retiring at the end of this September.
After that Pol. Col. Suradet changed his mind and is no longer resigning.
On March 20 Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin had transferred both Pol. Gen. Torsak and Pol. Gen. Surachet to work at the Prime Minister’s Office after lingering charges against the latter and his subordinates of being linked to online gambling websites.
Pol. Gen. Surachet and five of his subordinates were accused of being involved in the Minnie online gambling network but the National Anti-Corruption Commission decided earlier last month to itself investigate this case and not return it to the police Anti-Corruption Division to do so.
However another case cropped up at Taopoon police station accusing Pol. Gen. Surachet of involvement in BNK Master online gambling network.
