IN WHAT IS APPEARING to be an unprecedented case, political activist Vera Somkwamkid is seeking arrest warrants for all commissioners attached to the National Anti-Corruption Commission for failure to unveil information to the public.
Vera will shortly call on the Administrative Court to issue the sought-after arrest warrants for those NACC commissioners on grounds of duty negligence and failure to abide by court orders, given the fact that they have so far failed to unveil all assets under possession of former deputy prime minister/now Palang Pracharath leader Prawit Wongsuwan.
The Administrative Court had repeatedly ordered for the NACC commissioners who had apparently refused to abide by the Freedom of Information Act to eventually divulge Prawit’s wealth to the public but those court orders had been evidently issued to no avail, according to the political activist.
The commissioners of the anti-graft agency had apparently never abided by it, prompting the court to hand them a 10,000 baht fine which has yet remained to no avail.
In addition, Vera might probably as well file a petition with the Office of the Ombudsman against the NACC commissioners for a severe breach of the code of ethics which could possibly lead to impeachment of the allegedly duty-negligent commissioners, deprivation of their current status and termination of their electoral rights.
Prawit’s assets including 22 luxury watches which he had “borrowed” from one of his friends have remained undisclosed since he performed as deputy prime minister in the time of a previous government under former coup leader-turned-prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
