ANOTHER BHUMJAITHAI MP has been caught allegedly rigging last year’s election in Buengkan which could possibly lead to the loss of his MP status, a by-election and a ban on the accused from contesting again.
The Election Commission today (May 13) resolved to petition the Supreme Court to call the election in Buengkan’s Constituency 2 in which Bhumjaithai MP Suwanna Kumbhiro had won null and void, thus rendering the deprivation of his MP status and the proposed by-election the date of which is yet to be scheduled due to the alleged vote-buying activity involving the accused lawmaker.
Given his involvement in the alleged electoral rigging, Suwanna could probably be prohibited from seeking re-election in the northeastern constituency.
According to the Election Commission, Suwanna’s canvassers had evidently conducted vote-wooing, music-playing activities during a merit-making ritual at a temple in his constituency, deemed by the polling agency as illegal.
That has followed a similar, electoral rigging lawsuit earlier filed to the Supreme Court against Bhumjaithai MP Mukdawan Luengsinil of Nakhon Sri Thammarat’s Constituency 8 attached to the same coalition partner under de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob.
