20 turbulence-hit flight passengers still in ICU: Hospital

 

AS MANY AS 20 passengers travelling on a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight that had to make an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday (May 21) after running into severe turbulence are still in ICU, Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital said in a second statement this afternoon, according to Amarin TV.

Altogether 27 passengers had been discharged after receiving treatment at 1 p.m. today but 41 others are still undergoing treatment at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, 15 at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital and 2 at Bangkok Hospital.

Soon after the emergency landing 84 injured passengers were rushed to this and the other hospitals while 19 others were treated at Samitivej clinic at Suvarnabhumi Airport taking the total to 103 cases.

Details are as follows:

Thirteen of 20 severely injured passengers are at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital ICU with five being from Malaysia, three from Australia, two from the UK and one each from China (Hong Kong), New Zealand and Singapore.

Seven passengers are at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital ICU with four being from the UK, and one each from the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore.

Altogether 38 passengers are recuperating at inpatients wards with 28 of them being at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital with eight being from the UK, six from Australia, five from the Philippines, two each from Ireland and New Zealand and one each from the US, South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar and Spain.

Eight are at Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital inpatient ward with three being from Australia, two from Malaysia, and one each from Singapore, India and the UK.

The two passengers at Bangkok Hospital inpatient ward are both from Singapore.

Moreover nine passengers underwent surgery at Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital yesterday and are in stable condition while five more are expected to do so at this same hospital today.
