A 10-year-old Cambodian girl who was abandoned by her parents at Pattaya beach was helped by police after local residents and tourists saw her crying last night (July 29), Naewna newspaper said this afternoon.
Pattaya City police went to help the child at 10 p.m. after being alerted that she was sitting and crying at the beach not far from the station.
Investigation revealed that her parents had left her at this spot since noon and did not come back to pick her up. Help only came after local residents and tourists took pity on her and called police to come and investigate.
Initially police and some local people have taken her to stay at a safe place as they hope that her parents would get in touch to take their daughter back. However if they do not do so she will be placed in child protection service.
