AS A leaked audio clip is now making the rounds with the speaker’s voice being similar to that of Palang Pracharath leader Prawit Wongsuwan, Thammanat Prompao, who while remaining this party’s MP has led 20 MPs in rebelling against it, denied being involved, TV Channel 7 said this afternoon (Sep. 12).
While Thammanat and the clique of MPs under his command have practically turned coat to support Pheu Thai Party, Palang Pracharath secretary-general Paibul Nititawan earlier confirmed they would not be expelled.
In this clip Prawit was allegedly recorded as saying he wanted to become prime minister and touched on various other issues.
Thammanat said he personally believes the audio clip was not created by AI with some of the recordings being real but a large number of conversations took place a long time ago.
Even the permanent secretary of the Interior Ministry has come out to admit he was speaking in the clip but that he was not involved in leaking it as he had left the party a long time ago.
He added that he does not have the ability to do this sort of thing and had warned people in this party to be careful when talking over the phone as they could be wiretapped.
He is certain that the audio clip was internally recorded while warning the party that they should not blame others. He also expects more people to leave the party.
On the Palang Pracharath having set up a committee to investigate him and his group of MPs within 60 days, Thammanat said he is not interested in this issue because this does not have any effect.
He emphasised that he wants to leave the party peacefully as do the 20 MPs in his group without causing a problem for anyone. However there are people who continue to disturb him and he warned them that he has set up a legal war room.
