ALL ELECTION COMMISSIONERS might possibly be deposed by court for alleged failure to hold a clear-cut and clean election for senators a few months earlier.
The seven election commissioners could possibly not only be immediately ousted by the Constitutional Court but subsequently face criminal indictments for the alleged failure to see to it that June’s senatorial election be held in transparent and fair fashion if the one held in Songkhla was judged null and void by the Supreme Court which is expected to deliver a ruling on it shortly, an informed source said today (Sep. 21).
Consequently, the contentious election for all 200 senators nationwide could possibly be collectively declared null and void as an aftermath of the allegedly rigged contests in the southern province, thus warranting a re-election in all districts and provinces throughout the country, the source said.
The unprecedented senatorial election which had entirely gone through triple-tier votes from among fellow contestants in lieu of constituents had been allegedly prone to electoral riggings, mostly clandestinely manipulated by unnamed elements associated with the Bhumjaithai, the second largest coalition partner.
As many as 120 senators including Senate Speaker Mongkol Surasajja had more or less allegedly performed under veiled influence of the Buriram-based camp under de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob.
