SEVEN Indian men who bashed up three people but mainly targeting the Indian organiser of a Diwali celebration on Pattaya beach during Nov. 8-10 ignored summons to report to police for questioning, their lawyer said today (Nov. 13), according to TV Channel 7.
Mr. Anirut Kongtraph, the lawyer, said he brought the three victims to follow up on the progress of the case with Pol. Lt. Col. Saijai Khamjunla, an investigation officer at Pattaya City police station, after having submitted a surveillance camera clip as evidence.
Mr. Dio Singh, 46, president of Chonburi Indian Association, said three Indian associations in Pattaya had collaborated in organising the celebration of Diwali festival on the beach so that all Indians and tourists could join in and have fun.
While the event had mostly proceeded smoothly on the last night just as the team was packing up their gear, a group of Indian men suddenly surrounded them and started fighting, punching them in the face several times until policemen intervened.
Even after that the perpetrators called their friends and attacked the organising team again.
Dio believes this was planned in advance because one of the men who attacked him had previously secretly filmed and took photos of what was going on.
As he had never had any conflict with anyone before, he insisted on taking legal action against these men to the full extent of the law.
Dio added the Indian men also unintentionally attacked other people at the scene particularly those who tried to stop them with women and children being among them.
