AN APPEAL HAS BEEN directly lodged to His Majesty the King in pursuit of an ouster of newly-named National Anti-Corruption Commission Chair Suchart Trakulkasemsuk on grounds of breaching the established code of ethics.
The fresh appeal to His Majesty the King was filed yesterday (Feb.13) by Nataporn Toprayoon, a former adviser to the Ombudsman, accusing Suchart of having violated the code of ethics and conduct by evidently seeking private consultations over his official businesses with House Speaker Wan Noor Matha at the latter’s house last month, either with or without former deputy police chief Surachate Hakparn attending.
The Privy Council which is dutifully responsive to His Majesty the King would launch investigation into allegations of wrongdoings perpetrated by Suchart who was recently named under royal endorsement as the new NACC chief, Nataporn said.
Besides, he said, Wan Noor could possibly be subject to impeachment which could possibly lead to his being deposed as head of the legislative branch for evidently failing to remain neutral and instead lifting a separate petition previously filed against Suchart by the former deputy police chief.
The House speaker is legally obliged to forward the case to the Supreme Court and to not waive it for any excusable reasons, according to the former adviser to the Ombudsman.
Nataporn took action against the newly-named NACC chief after Surachate had decided against filing a renewed petition against him, however.
The contentious phenomenon involving those bureaucratic heads has intensified after a video clip featuring the private talk between Suchart and Wan Noor, either with or without Surachate attending, has gone viral.
Wan Noor openly reprimanded Surachate for allegedly managing to make and disseminate the clip online but the former deputy police chief categorically denied he had been present in the scene during the private talk between the House speaker and Suchart.
Suchart who had been allegedly promoted as one of the seven NACC commissioners by former deputy prime minister Prawit Wongsuwan and Surachate five years ago and had allegedly successfully coveted the chairmanship of the anti-graft agency was not available for comment as yet.
