A LIGHT earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale with one kilometre depth shook Phichit province at 2.13 a.m. today (Feb. 28) with the epicenter being at Nong Phra subdistrict, Wang Sai Phun district, following two that rocked Myanmar yesterday, Amarin TV said.
Myanmar was first hit by a 2.9 earthquake at 8.33 a.m. yesterday morning then a 3.8 temblor at 6.40 p.m.
No one was injured in this lower northern province earthquake with Governor Ms. Thaniya Naiphinit ordering Wang Sai Phun district chief, officials from Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office, village and subdistrict headmen and local administrative organizations to survey the affected areas but initially no damage was found.
Villagers in Nong Phra subdistrict said as the quake occurred in the middle of the night and the tremors were not strong they did not feel anything.
Phichit was last hit by an earthquake on June 29, 2023.
