A WOMAN riding home on a motorcycle in Far-South Pattani City died after hitting a dangling cable which led to her motorbike spinning and flipping over sending her flying and hitting the ground causing severe injury, TV Channel 3 Plus News said last night (March 7).
Pol. Col. Jeffrey Sailamanakul, superintendent of Pattani City police station, said investigation showed that just before the accident at around 4.30 p.m. on Thursday (March 5) a pickup truck piled up with fruit baskets higher than the legal limit passed through and hit this cable causing it to snap and fall.
Then the deceased, Ms. Niropiah (surname withheld), 39, a factory worker rode through as she headed home but got caught in the dangling cable with her motorcycle spinning several times and the force sending her flying then landing in the middle of the road . Her neck was wounded and there was blood flowing through her mouth and while rescuers quickly took her to the hospital she later succumbed to her wounds.
After the incident, the police took the driver of the pickup truck who had not fled to file a daily record and will be collecting evidence to prosecute according to the law with both parties to be treated fairly.
A reporter of this TV channel went to the spot on the four-lane road where the accident took place and saw that the cables had already been cut.
He also met Ms. Sasithorn, who was at the scene, who related that she saw the electric cable hanging down and went to get some wood to block this lane but just then heard a loud noise and upon turning around saw the injured woman lying in the middle of the road.
