Myanmar soldiers flee to Thailand as Karens seize base

SOME Myanmar soldiers crossed the Moei river to Thailand overnight after Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) fighters attacked their base opposite Tak province with many others having died in the fighting, Amarin TV said this morning (March 14).

At 00.10 a.m. KNLA’s 7th Infantry Division launched their attack on Myanmar army’s 31st Infantry Battalion Pululu base, opposite Mae U-su subdistrict, Tha Song Yang district, leading to heavy fighting all night till morning.

The Karens attacked Myanmar soldiers at close range after hitting them with bombing drones and fired various types of mortars, rocket launchers, machine guns and small guns at them.

The Myanmar troops could not defend their stronghold so withdrew with the Karens then immediately seizing it.

Many Myanmar soldiers died and got injured in this attack with some of them crossing the Moei river to the Thai side while  the fighting raged.

Troops from Rajamanu Task Force, Naresuan Force and rangers from the 35th Ranger Regiment quickly moved in to secure the border and apprehended all the Myanmar troops who had crossed over. They will be pushed back because Thailand is neutral with no enmity with either side.
