PRIME MINISTER Paetongtarn Shinawatra today (June 17) ordered strict monitoring of the Israeli-Iranian conflict 24 hours a day and the Thai-Cambodian border tension on hourly basis with no Thais in either Iran or Israel having been injured in the ongoing aerial war so far, TV Channel 7 said.
Mr. Jirayu Huangtrakul, spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, said Foreign and Labour ministries were told to coordinate closely with Thai embassies in Israel and Iran and prepare for possible evacuation of Thai citizens.
On the Thai-Cambodian border tension Deputy Defence Minister Gen. Nattaphon Nakphanit told today’s cabinet meeting the army has been solving problems along the border since May 29 as assigned by the Prime Minister.
However, the National Security Council still has to approve actions taken along the Thai-Cambodian border on a daily basis and in order to speed up work a Special Operations Centre for Administration of Thai-Cambodian Border Situation has been set up to integrate the work of various agencies.
The new panel is now closely monitoring, inspecting, analyzing and filtering information on the Thai-Cambodian border situation at all times and will be sending its opinions and suggestions or necessary steps to be taken to the National Security Council, the Prime Minister or the cabinet as appropriate.
Once the situation returns to normal this panel will be disbanded.
