MARTIAL law was declared at Ban Nong Chan,Non Mak Mun subdistrict, Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo province, to maintain peace and order after Cambodian civilians rioted there, Amarin TV said this morning (Aug. 29).
Maj. Gen. Benjapol Dechatiwong Na Ayutthaya, commander of Burapha Task Force, signed an order placing this area under martial law because it appears Cambodia has sent its citizens to riot in Thai territory there.
It is now unavoidable to use military and police as well as for all Thai citizens to preserve national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the lives and property of local residents.
By virtue of Section 11 of the Martial Law Act B.E. 2457, the following peacekeeping areas, peacekeeping lines and peace and order measures are now imposed:
Section 1: Ban Nong Chan, Non Mak Mun subdistrict, Khok Sung district, Sa Kaeo province, shall be designated as a peacekeeping area;
Section 2: Sri Phen road at Ban Nong Chan shall be designated as a peace and order line;
Section 3: Measures for entering the peace and order area are as follows:
3.1 Carrying any type of weapon or weapon-like object into the area is prohibited;
3.2 Blocking and closing roads that affect the work of officials and living conditions prohibited;
3.3 Taking photos and filming military bases prohibited;
3.4 Fighting and drinking alcohol prohibited;
3.5 Loudspeakers are prohibited from being brought to this area without permission.
