AFTER A Cambodian political analyst and influencer said on Facebook that the Hun Sen and Hun Manet government had left the bodies of their soldiers strewn in a forest without burying them, the Cambodian army came out to deny this was the case, Amarin TV said today (Sep. 26).
Mr. Kim Sok, whose Facebook page has 110,000 followers, said in his post that the Cambodian administration had harassed the families of the dead Cambodian soldiers to not talk about the unattended bodies of their sons.
As this has become a hot topic in the neighbouring country, the Cambodian army Commander-in-Chief had to issue a statement denying it.
“In accordance with the law establishing and facilitating the administration of the Supreme Command, Article 8 clearly stipulates the duties and responsibilities of the Supreme Command as the centre of military security to ensure the protection and preservation of sovereignty, territorial integrity and national interests.
“The Supreme Command wishes to inform the public that the Military Security Committee has an important mission to coordinate the work of the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as all other forces under its leadership, to ensure maximum military preparedness at all times and to support the government’s operations in accordance with the law.
“The Supreme Command therefore requests the public nationwide to fully cooperate with the Military Security Committee to maintain national peace, security and prosperity,” the statement said.
