Beijing – Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida focused on China’s technological advancements during their state visit, touring two key innovation facilities in the capital.
On November 15, 2025, Their Majesties visited the Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics , where they were received by Mayor Yin Yong.
The Royal Couple viewed a video on AI robotics, a national priority for China, and observed demonstrations of sophisticated prototypes, including the multi-terrain Tiangong intelligent robot.
They toured the “Robot World” section, which featured AI applications in manufacturing, healthcare such as surgical and pharmaceutical dispensing robots, and consumer services, underscoring the centre’s focus on developing physical AI for high-precision and hazardous tasks.
On November 16, Their Majesties visited the National Centre for Education Technology and Resources Development. Welcomed by Education Minister Huai Jinpeng, Their Majesties viewed presentations on the Smart Education of China (SEC) platform, the centerpiece of China’s initiative to modernise its educational system.
The SEC platform is a national hub designed to provide quality educational resources and teacher training to over 293 million students, aiming to ensure equal access to education in remote and underserved areas.
The visit included a live demonstration of a remote, interactive lesson connecting students in Beijing and Hainan Province, showcasing the platform’s capacity to democratise educational technology across China.
Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida were welcomed with the highest state honours by the Chinese government, including a 21-gun salute at Tiananmen Square, on the second day of their official visit to Beijing on Friday.
The Royal Couple was welcomed at the Great Hall of the People by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Professor Peng Liyuan. The ceremony included a full military honours salute and a symbolic 21-gun salute fired at Tiananmen Square.
In their discussion, His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn expressed his pleasure and pride in the closest friendly relations and shared activities between the two nations. President Xi in turn stated that His Majesty the King’s first official visit to China reflected the deep friendship between the two nations under the concept of “China-Thailand are one family.”
Following the meeting with the President, Their Majesties The King and Queen also held talks with Premier Li Qiang.
On the evening of Nov. 14, Their Majesties attended a formal state dinner hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People. The following morning, Nov. 15, Their Majesties the King and Queen proceeded to Tiananmen Square to lay a wreath at the Monument to the People’s Heroes, observing a traditional custom for visiting Heads of State.
