A CHINESE man who illegally crossed over from Cambodia to Thailand at Ban Nong Charn, Sa Kaeo province, got injured after stepping on a landmine early this morning (Nov. 29) with a team of Border Patrol Police and soldiers rescuing him, Amarin TV said.
At 5.50 a.m. officers of 4th Border Patrol Police Task Force Company heard an explosion in a thicket at the border where landmines had not been cleared and the commander then informed the 12th Border Patrol Police Unit commander who sent a drone to assess the situation.
They then contacted Burapha Task Force commander to send a mine clearing unit for an emergency rescue operation.
When the team reached the spot where the injured man was lying in pain, they found that he was attempting to give himself first aid as he shivered and upon seeing them asked for help in a mix of English and Chinese languages.
They immediately gave him additional first aid and transported him to Khok Sung Hospital for further treatment.
Police investigators from Khok Sung station have notified the Sa Kaeo Immigration Police to investigate this illegal immigration case.
