Second day of Thai-Cambodian border talks get underway

 

THE Khmer delegation to the Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC) secretariat-level meeting arrived at Ban Phak Krad permanent border crossing in Chanthaburi province before 9 a.m. this morning (Dec. 25) for the second day of bilateral talks, PPTHD36 said.

The Thai delegation had arrived at 8.45 a.m. while the Cambodian delegation at 8.50 a.m. with officials opening the small gate at the border crossing to let the Khmer team to cross over.

Lt. Gen. Nuttapong Praokaew, deputy chief of staff of the Thai armed forces, as GBC secretary-general, greeted Maj. Gen. Nhem Boraden, deputy head of the Office of the Minister of Defence, who leads the Cambodian team, with the two men shaking hands before going to the adjacent Immigration Office building where the meeting commenced immediately.

Thai officials welcomed the Khmer delegation before escorting them to the meeting room on the third floor. The media were allowed to photograph for only three minutes before the bilateral discussions began. 

The meeting is being observed by the Asean Observers Team (AOT).
