THE OWNERS OF GAZEBOS illegally built on the shores of Surat Thani have been repeatedly urged to promptly dismantle those unpermitted structures or the authorities will do so instead.
The navy’s Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Centre’s Second Area Commander Vice Adm Samrerng Chanthaso confirmed today (June 8) the navy-led authorities would certainly remove all those roofed pavilions on the shores of Baan Don Bay in the southern province if their owners failed to do it in due course.
A total of 26 seaside gazebos, some of which were built in makeshift style and others in luxury fashion, have been dismantled either by their owners or the authorities over the last few months.
However, a few others remain in defiance of the law which prohibits private uses of public land, especially that in coastal areas, Vice Adm Samrerng said.
The unpermitted pavilions were built on the shores in Punpin district, Kanchanadit district and the capital district of Surat Thani.
Though some of those illegal gazebo owners might possibly lodge complaints with the provincial governor, such matters would definitely be handled with respect to the law, the admiral commented.
