Boyfriend fails to save Australian man from plunging to death from condo

AN Australian man fell to his death from the eight floor of a condominium in Pattaya last night after his Thai boyfriend was unable to pull him back to the balcony after he jumped off, Sanook.com reported today (Jan. 9).

When Pol. Capt. Sombat Kaewmoonmuk, deputy inspector of Mueang Pattaya police station, arrived at the condo he found many residents milling around looking at the dead body of Mr. Johann (surname withheld), 58, that was in a bad state next to the building so he covered it with a cloth.

He then questioned Mr. Somphot, 34, the deceased man’s boyfriend, who said the two of them had been drinking alcohol and were quite drunk when they returned to their  unit.

After that they argued as they frequently did, and although his partner had previously thought about killing himself three times, he did not think he would actually do so.

When he jumped off the balcony he grabbed him and tried to pull him back up but because of his weight failed to do so and had to let him fall to his death.

Pattaya police have examined the area for more clues while also further questioning Somphot. The deceased Australian man’s body has been sent to the Police Hospital for forensic examination.
