Truck with faulty brakes slams into expressway toll booth

A QUICK-WITTED driver who found that the brakes of the 10-wheel truck he was driving suddenly failed has be approached the Prachachuen toll plaza’s pay booth quickly veered and slammed into the automatic easy pass booth which is usually unmanned thus prevent loss of life, Sanook.com said today (Feb. 28).

While Mr. Thit Thien, 52, the truck driver, emerged unscathed from the hair-raising accident, the woman accompanying him did get injured and was taken to a hospital.

Thit said he was heading to Pathum Thani province and was driving towards booth number four to pay the toll when the brakes failed.

He then quickly swerved and smashed past the barrier and slammed into the unmanned booth number three.

While the truck was quickly moved out of the way of other motorists coming to this toll plaza, it remained shut for a while as debris was cleared.

Police tested and found that Thit was not drunk at the time and charged him with careless driving causing damage to government property.
