Bangkok tops list of 10 provinces with highest Covid infection

THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) today (May 30) listed the 10 provinces with the most coronavirus cases and Bangkok, being the worst affected, is right at the top while there were 4,528 new cases and 24 deaths in the last 24 hours, Sanook.com said.

Of the new batch of cases 1,397 emerged in service systems, 1,202 were found through proactive search in communities, 1,902 were infected in prisons and detention centres while 27 overseas arrivals were quarantined

The 24 additional fatalities took the death toll past the 1,000 mark to 1,012.

The cumulative confirmed total in the current Covid wave that started on April 1 has reached 125,444 and since the start of the pandemic 154,307.

Another 2,933 patients were cured taking total recoveries to 105,244.

CCSA’s list of the 10 provinces with the highest number of coronavirus cases is as follows:

– 1. Bangkok 754 new cases, totaling 40,217;

– 2. Phetchaburi 754 new cases, totaling 5,191;

– 3. Samut Prakan 264 new cases, totaling 6,661;

– 4. Nonthaburi: 139 new cases, totaling 6,715;

– 5. Chonburi 90 new cases, totaling 4,605;

– 6. Pathum Thani 73 new cases, totaling 3,411;

– 7. Narathiwat 65 new cases, totaling 873;

– 8. Chachoengsao 62 new cases, totaling 849;

– 9. Samut Sakhon 58 new cases, totaling 2,499;

– 10. Trang: 44 new cases, totaling 425.
