Update: Daily Covid count soars to 18,901 cases, 147 deaths

THE PUBLIC Health Ministry said today (August 3) that there were 18,901 new coronavirus cases and 147 deaths over the past 24 hours, Sanook.com said.

Of the new batch of cases 18,158 were among the general public and 743 in prisons and detention centres.

This raises the cumulative confirmed total since the start of the pandemic to 652,185 and in the current wave that began in April 623,322.

Today’s fatalities increased the death toll to 5,315. Another 18,590 patients have recovered taking total recoveries to 209,039.

The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) later said that there were Covid cases in all 77 provinces in the 24 hours to this morning with the highest number of cases being in Bangkok totalling 3,566, Siam Rath newspaper said.

The province with the least number of cases is Phang Nga with three.

Meanwhile 43 provinces reported over a hundred cases with 15 being in the central region, 14 in the northeast, five in the east, and four each in the west and south and one in the north.
