Benelux envoys sound out Pheu Thai Party about volatile political situation

BENELUX ENVOYS TO THAILAND met with high-ranking members of Pheu Thai Party today (Nov. 23) to discuss the country’s volatile political situation and other topics of shared interest.

Netherlands Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden, Belgian Ambassador Sibille de Cartier d’Yves and Luxembourg Ambassador Jean-Paul Senninger held an informal talk on varied issues including the unpredictable political situation as well as economic and investment matters with Pheu Thai Party leader Cholanan Srikaeo and Pheu Thai Party secretary-general Prasert Chanthararuangthong among other prominent members of the opposition party at their headquarters in the Thai capital.

The Benelux envoys’ visit to Pheu Thai Party apparently followed that of United States Charge d’Affaires to Thailand Michael Heath.

Pheu Thai Party with former premier Thaksin Shinawatra as de facto leader occasionally providing guidance from his Dubai residence is more or less speculated to win more MP seats than the ruling Palang Pracharath Party in the next general election and might possibly subsequently set up a coalition government.
