Rural doctors say nationwide daily ATK positive tally too low

THE RURAL Doctor Society said in its Facebook page this evening (Mar. 31) that the coronavirus figures in this country are unusually low particularly the antigen test kit (ATK) positive tally with the total for three provinces already higher than the nationwide count for the past 24 hours announced this morning, said.

“We are confused! Are we controlling the disease or controlling the numbers?” Is the question raised in the post.

The post added that the total Covid cases reported today, Mar. 31, 2022, was very low and is contrary to the feeling of health workers who have found that it is spreading very heavily.

At  7.31 a.m. this morning the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said 16,079 people tested positive for coronavirus via ATK with this report compiled the previous day.

However each provincial page also reports the figures and it was found that in Chonburi 8,323 people tested positive by ATK, in Songkhla 4,839 and Chiang Rai 3,322 , adding up to 16,484 in just these 3 province

The post pointed out that front line health workers are doing their best to control the pandemic and felt it is the infection not tallies that has to be controlled.

“We believe that reporting real numbers will improve the situation because only the truth will lead to Thai people becoming aware of the situation without panicking,” the post said.

This morning it was announced that there were 27,560 Covid cases and 85 deaths over the past 24 hours with this taking the cumulative confirmed total since Jan. 1 to  1,404,912 and since the start of the pandemic 3,628,347.

Today’s 85 fatalities raised the death toll to 25,130.

Another 25,077 patients were cured taking total recoveries since Jan. 1 to 1,187,953 with 246,770 patients still undergoing treatment.
