Bangkok’s daily Covid tally drops below 1,000, Phasi Charoen worst hit

 

WITH the national Covid tally dropping to 3,893 cases and 38 deaths today (May 17), Bangkok likewise saw its count plunge to 865 with Phasi Charoen topping the 10 worst-hit districts, Amarin TV said.

The additional 3,893 cases took the nationwide cumulative confirmed total since Jan. 1 to 2,159,542. Another 7,323 patients were cured increasing total recoveries since Jan. 1  to 2,121,596 with 63,337 patients still under treatment.

Today’s 38 fatalities raised the national death toll to 29,550 with the youngest to die being 11 months old and the oldest 95 years.

Of Bangkok 865 Covid cases today 652 were residents while 213 had come to the capital for treatment from other provinces.

The top 10 districts with the most infections today are as follows:

1) Phasi Charoen, 85 cases;

2) Bang Khae, 68;

3) Nong Khaem, 44;

4) Bangkoknoi, 32;

5) Taling Chan, 28;

6) Bang Kho Laem, 25;

7) Bang Khun Thian 23;

8) Bangkok Yai, 21;

9) Bangna, 19;

10) Prawet, 19.

Despite the big improvement Bangkok continued to top the 10 provinces logging the most cases today.

These are as follows:

1) Bangkok 865 cases, altogether 330,944;

2) Buriram 198 cases, altogether 46,179;

3) Surin 160 cases, adding up to 30,165;

4) Chonburi 139 cases, adding up to 108,491;

5) Ubon Ratchathani 132 cases, totalling 36,659;

6) Roi Et 118 cases, totalling 38,746;

7) Samut Prakan, 110 cases, altogether 97,425;

8) Mahasarakham 95 cases, altogether 26,390;

9) Nonthaburi 95 cases, adding up to 69,404;

10) Khon Kaen 92 cases, adding up to 52,050.
