Chadchart not concerned less than 100m baht budget left for this fiscal year

NEW BANGKOK Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said after outlining his 214 policies for the metropolis today (June 1) that he is not concerned about there being less than 100 million baht left in the budget for this fiscal year, TV Channel 7 said.

He pointed out that many of the 214 policies only required a low budget to implement with an example being the launching of a complaints application for Bangkokians to use.

Policies that require larger budgets could be put off till the next fiscal year, he added, while also mentioning that the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) had saved over one billion baht that could be tapped as emergency budget if needed.

Regarding meeting Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, Chadchart said this would not take place right now as he did not know what to talk about particularly because wanted to focus on local work because he was elected to administer at the local level.

Moreover, by hierarchy he would have to meet with Interior Minister Anupong Paochinda.

In comparing the Prime Minister’s and his own political aura, the new governor said this is akin to comparing different boxing divisions with him being at the local level while the prime minister the national level.

At the sametime long-term Bangkok officials were reassured that he would be fair to them and would be inviting an anti-corruption organisation to come in for a discussion next week.

Regarding moving the City Hall to be part of City Hall 2 in Din Daeng, he said this was just an idea and a working group would be set up to study the advantages and disadvantages of doing so with the focus being on the big picture and benefit to the people.
