Censure/no-confidence motion lodged against Prayut, 10 other cabinet members

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

THE OPPOSITION BLOC today (June 15) filed a censure/no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and 10 other members of cabinet.

The Pheu Thai-led opposition is holding Prayut’s running of the country in erroneous, incompetent and damageous fashion as a prime target of the censure debate alongside the 10 other ministers.

The censure debate which will be usually lengthy and last no less than three long days will be followed by votes of confidence next morning.

According to House Speaker Chuan Leekpai, the motion will likely be put on floor debate in two weeks or by early next month.

Opposition Leader Chonlanan Srikaew said the upcoming censure motion will mark the final round of its kind for the current Palang Pracharath-led coalition government whose four-year electoral term is scheduled to end by next March.

The Pheu Thai party leader commented Prayut and the other censure-hit ministers might probably survive the motion which may last three long days but they would be defeated in the next general election.

Those cabinet members who will be grilled under the censure/no-confidence motion include Deputy Prime Minister/Commerce Minister Jurin Laksanavisit, Deputy Prime Minister/Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, Interior Minister Anupong Paojinda, Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob, Digital Economy & Society Minister Chaiwut Tanakhamanusorn, Social Development & Human Security Minister Juti Krairirk, Deputy Finance Minister Santi Prompat, Deputy Interior Minister Nipon Boonyamani and Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin.
