Chadchart: Luxury house in Seattle purchased with inherited asset

BANGKOK GOVERNOR Chadchart Sittipunt explained today (June 15) that the luxury house in Seattle, USA, belongs to his son, Mr. Saenpiti Sittipunt, and was purchased with proceeds from the sale of one-rai land on Rama 4 road that his mother had given him, Amarin TV said.

As questions are being raised about two-storey four-bedroom, three-bathroom house in Seattle, Chadchart explained through the TV programme “Choh Luek Thua Thai Inside Thailand” that his son received the transfer of this house from his mother, Mrs. Paraminthiya Sittipunt, on May 4, 2022 as she had held the title for him while he was still a minor.

The price of the house as assessed from tax base is US$1.7 million or approximately 58 million baht but the market price is USS2.2 million or around 72 million baht.

Chadchart explained that seven years ago his mother gave both him and his twin brother Dr. Chanchai Sittipunt one-rai each of land on Rama 4 road that she had inherited.

He added that he had reported this to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and that he was transferring part of this land to his son but he was still a minor.

Soon afterwards someone asked to buy this land plot and as this coincided with Saenpiti going to the US to study, he sold it and used the proceeds to buy this house for him but this was held for him by his wife till he came of legal age.

He also explained that he himself had never thought of selling this house in Seattle but after his son graduated he thought of selling it but as his wife, Mrs. Paraminthiya, had not been in the US for over two years if it had been sold at that juncture higher taxes would have had to be paid.

He was advised to transfer the house to Saenpiti and if he continues studying in the US for another two or more years and sells it afterwards the taxes would come down by over 20%.

He underscored that Saenpiti is the real owner of this house and this information need not be concealed.
