Rules on entry, face masks, entertainment venues eased from July 1

 

THE Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) executive committee today (June 17) approved the Tourism and Sports Ministry’s proposal cancelling the use of immigration forms, known as Tor Mor 6, and Thailand Pass which would enable foreign tourists to enter the country without having to filling them, Sanook.com and Matichon newspaper said.

Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakar that people will be allowed to remove face masks on voluntary basis in some areas especially in the open air and when exercising with all this effective from July 1 onwards.

As for Covid vaccination, the airlines will be asked to verify the status of travellers.

However service personnel are required to continue wearing face masks. Those who want to hold big concerts with over 2,000 participants would have to ask for permission first and those attending them would be required to wear face masks.

Moreover the meeting also extended the opening hours of entertainment venues till 2 a.m. Hotels where foreign tourists are staying will also be allowed to serve alcohol to their guests during the previous 2 p.m. to 5 p.m ban. This too is to take effect from July 1 onwards with all 77 provinces now declared green zone.

Phiphat said after the meeting that this relaxation is expected to lead to 25,000 to 30,000 tourists coming to Thailand each day with the country likely to be able to attract not less 7.5 million tourists by yearend with his ministry trying to accelerate the total to 10 million.

Meanwhile the Public Health Ministry said this morning there were 1,967 Covid cases and 19 deaths over the past 24 hours taking the cumulative confirmed total since Jan. 1 to 2,271,445 and 4,492,727 since the start of the pandemic.

Today’s 19 fatalities raised the death toll to 30,422.

Another 2,123 patients were cured taking total recoveries since Jan. 1 to  2,274,934  while 21,030 patients are still undergoing treatment.
