A 77-year-old Australian man who got lost in the forest at Koh Larn, a small island 7.5 kilometres off Pattaya’s coast, was rescued last night after hours of search by a large team, Amarin TV said today (July 4).
The unidentified Australian tourist had travelled to Koh Lan with 20 friends to see the nature on this island. While trekking yesterday he somehow got separated from his friends at Khao Radar hill, abutting Samae beach.
At 3 p.m. his friends alerted Sawang Boriboon rescue foundation head Mr. Songkran Modethong, Pattaya City and Koh Larn subdistrict officials to help find him.
A search team set forth soon afterwards and it was 10 p.m. when they finally found him sitting in the dark by the side of a big cliff in a weak condition. As he had a wound on his left elbow this was dressed after which he was taken to Koh Larn Hospital where it was stitched and saline drip given to speed up recovery.
He was sent back to Pattaya for further treatment this morning.
