PALANG PRACHARATH director Suchart Chomklin has been finally pressed to quit the executive post of the ruling party since he has allegedly persuaded fellow MPs to leave for another camp.
Suchart who concurrently acts as labour minister has today (Nov.29) resigned as Palang Pracharath director amidst allegations that he has tried in hush-hush fashion to talk some MPs of the largest coalition partner into hopping along with him over to the Ruam Thai Sang Chart Party which is obviously designed to name Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha as partisan candidate for head of a post-election government.
Palang Pracharath top leader Prawit Wongsuwan has earlier commented that he would not keep anyone with his camp unwillingly, ranging from Prayut to Suchart and others, and that they all are free to go party-hopping at any time.
Suchart admitted that he had personally intended to endorse Prayut’s design to prolong his rule for about two more years after the general election as allowed by court.
The former Palang Pracharath director has allegedly tried to convince some Palang Pracharath MPs to hop over to the brand-new Ruam Thai Sang Chart in bid to promote Prayut’s thinly-veiled design to remain in power beyond the nationwide election, speculated early next year.
But the reported attempts allegedly perpetrated by the former Palang Pracharath director to steal away some of the coalition MPs from Prawit’s camp have apparently prompted the Palang Pracharath boss to press for his resignation from the ruling party’s executive board.
Not only Prayut but Prawit have reportedly planned to land themselves the premiership after the nationwide election.
A party contesting the nationwide election, speculated early next year, is legally obliged to have a minimum of 25 MPs to name a partisan candidate for head of a post-election government.
Expected to leave Prawit’s party alongside the former party director for the pro-Prayut camp are certain MPs currently representing eastern and western constituencies.
It remains to be seen whether deputy Palang Pracharath leader Chaiwut Thanakhamanusorn may follow suit of Suchart since the digital economy minister has recently resigned as party-listed MP amidst speculation that he will finally join ranks with those leaving for the Ruam Thai Sang Chart sooner or later.
